💡 The 5-minute LinkedIn hack that lands interviews

Table of Contents

Hope you’re having a great week.

I have a quick prompt for you this week. This is going to supercharge how fast you put together your marketing materials, e.g. your resume and LinkedIn profile.

My friend put a pause on his career six years ago.

He had other priorities: his health, his family, etc. All good. Now he’s ready to get back at it. I’m pumped for him.

Six months ago, I asked him how the search was going.

“Good. Just getting my LinkedIn updated and ready.”

I saw again last night. I asked about his job search.

“It’s great. Really been making progress on the LinkedIn last few months. I should be ready to start applying soon.”

🤯 Six months is too long to rewrite your LinkedIn profile

That’s why I woke up this morning and decided to knock out the newsletter and tip for you.

(Hell, IMO six days is pushing it. I’m talking about getting out a passable version. Of course, it’s okay if you’re making tweaks over time.)

So if you need to rewrite a LinkedIn profile or resume, here’s what you should do:

Step 1: Download your LinkedIn profile

Go to your LinkedIn profile → Click More → Select “Save to PDF”

Step 2: Open ChatGPT or Claude

You’ll upload the PDF, then use this prompt:

I need help optimizing my LinkedIn profile to attract recruiters and land interviews. Before you begin rewriting, please ask me the following questions one at a time:

  1. What specific job title and seniority level am I targeting? (e.g., “Senior Product Manager” or “Marketing Director”)

  2. What industry or type of company am I focusing on? (e.g., “B2B SaaS startups” or “Fortune 500 fintech companies”)

  3. What are my top 3 professional accomplishments that best demonstrate my value for this target role?

  4. What keywords, skills, or technologies do recruiters in my field typically search for? (List 5-10 terms)

  5. What quantifiable results can I highlight? Include metrics like:

    • Revenue impact (e.g., “Increased revenue by 40%”)

    • Team leadership (e.g., “Managed team of 12”)

    • Efficiency gains (e.g., “Reduced costs by 25%”)

    • Growth metrics (e.g., “Grew user base from 10K to 100K”)

Once I’ve answered all questions, please rewrite my complete LinkedIn profile including:

  • A compelling headline (120 characters max) that includes my target role, key value proposition, and industry keywords

  • An engaging About section (2,000 characters max) that tells my professional story and incorporates relevant keywords naturally

  • Optimized Experience sections for my last 3-5 roles with achievement-focused bullet points that use action verbs and quantifiable results

Format the output in ChatGPT Canvas so I can easily edit and refine each section before copying it to LinkedIn.

(You’ll need to modify it slightly for the resume but you get the idea.)

You’ll get a solid, completely rewritten profile in less than 10 minutes. And the difference is going to be night and day.

🤩 What I like best about this method

This AI method works because it forces you to think like a recruiter. What specific role are you targeting? What keywords do they search for? What results prove you can do the job?

The AI then weaves these elements throughout your entire profile, from headline to experience sections.

So, if you need a page one rewrite fast (or want to use AI across your entire job search), here are your next two steps:

Download your LinkedIn profile as a PDF

Try the prompt above

That’s it for this week.

See you next.
