I call it reverse engineering the resume:
1. Find 3-5 job descriptions for your target role
2. Copy all the text into Claude with this prompt: “Analyze these job descriptions and identify the top 10 most common keywords and skills mentioned. Rank them by frequency.”
3. Take those keywords back to Teal and see how your resume scores
4. Focus on the gaps that matter most (e.g. the top 5 keywords you’re missing)
🔧 The reality check
Teal and similar tools are great for that final 10% of optimization. But they can’t fix a resume that’s targeting the wrong roles or missing core experiences.
Do the strategic work first. Then let AI help you fine-tune.
