💡 How to show impact without breaking NDAs

Table of Contents

Here’s a common problem:

“I have strong experience, and strong impact numbers I could highlight… but how can I talk about this without revealing confidential company data?”

This happened to a client who worked at a major PC company.

And it happens more than you think.

People get paralyzed by what they can’t share instead of focusing on what they can.

Here’s a quick solution:

Use AI to help you reframe your accomplishments around defendable metrics.

✍️ Try this prompt:

“I managed [project/product] that generated approximately [revenue range] but can’t share exact figures. Help me rewrite this accomplishment using alternative metrics that show scale and impact.”

AI will suggest options like team size, project duration, market reach, or percentage improvements you can safely share.

For my client, we shifted from

“Managed $40M notebook portfolio”

to:

“Led product decisions for enterprise notebook line serving 500+ corporate clients across 12 regions.”

Same impact. Zero confidentiality risk.

The key insight? Recruiters aren’t fact checking your LinkedIn against company financials. They want to understand the scope and scale of your work.

If you can defend the number in an interview and it’s not protected by an NDA, you’re fine.

But when in doubt, AI can help you find alternative ways to demonstrate your impact.

Start by auditing one bullet point on your resume this week using that prompt.

Facing a tight deadline for a case study interview? ChatGPT can be your personal interview coach when you’re under pressure.

A friend recently called me panicking about a case study interview with only 24 hours to prepare. No presentation needed—just a 30-minute discussion. Here’s the strategy I recommended that helped them land the role:

Quick Case Study Prep Workflow:

Create a focused conversation space by loading:

  • The case study details

  • The specific questions you need to address

  • Your resume and past performance reviews

Then simply have a dialogue with ChatGPT about different approaches to the problem. This creates a framework for organizing your thoughts and connecting the case to your relevant experience.

Quick-start tips:

  • Ask ChatGPT to suggest 2-3 frameworks for analyzing the specific type of case

  • Request examples of how to connect the case to your past achievements

  • Practice answering potential follow-up questions

Try this approach for your next case interview. It transforms solitary preparation into an interactive experience that builds both confidence and competence.
